Opportunities and Challenges of Pharmacovigilance in Cancer Treatment

Abstract: Objectiv eTo introduce domestic and foreign pharmacovigilance systems and review the research progress in pharmacovigilance in the field of cancer treatment at home and abroad. Methods A comprehensive research was conducted in CNKI and PubMed from inception to May 31, 2021. Articles about pharmacovigilance in cancer treatment were reviewed, while the number of factors that made this sphere complicated were analyzed. Current opportunities as well as challenges were outlined. Results There was an increase in the demand for pharmacovigilance, IT could help reveal the potential connections between drugs and events, and patients'participation in adverse reaction reporting could add a new dimension to information collection, all of which could accelerate personalized cancer treatment. Conclusion Pharmacovigilance research in oncology will be oriented to risk prediction and personalized management of adverse drug reactions. The establishment of a better pharmacovigilance system is conducive to the safety of patients in drug use.
